How tall are the Na'vi in Avatar? Na'vi vs human height comparison
An adult Na'vi is about 9 to 10 feet tall (2.7 to 3 m). That is the figure given in the film's production material. An average man is 171 cm, so a Na'vi is about 1.7 times as tall: a human adult reaches roughly to a Na'vi's waist.
How tall is Jake Sully?
As a human, Jake Sully is an ordinary adult man. In his avatar body he is the size of an adult male Na'vi, about 3 m (roughly 10 ft). No exact official figure has been published for each character, so the heights below are approximate.
| Character | Approximate height | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Jake Sully (avatar) | about 3 m (10 ft) | adult male |
| Neytiri | about 2.7 to 2.9 m (9 to 9.5 ft) | adult female, slightly shorter than Jake |
| Tonowari | about 3 m (10 ft) | Metkayina chief; reef people have broader chests, arms and tails |
| Lo'ak | shorter than his parents | a teenager, still growing |
| Human adults | 1.6 to 1.8 m | need breathing masks on Pandora |
Why are the Na'vi so tall?
In the story, Pandora has lower gravity than Earth (about 80%), so living things can grow taller on lighter frames. The Na'vi also have long limbs and a long neck, which makes them look even taller than their height suggests.
